42nd session of ITTC and CSAG event

The International Tropical Timber Council (ITTC) is currently meeting in Port Moresby, Papua New-Guinea, for its 42nd session. The discussions include a wide range of topics such as forest law enforcement and governance in the context of sustainable tropical timber trade; inclusion of additional timber species under CITES; and developments in the UNFCCC related to forests and their potential implications for tropical forests and the world tropical timber economy.

Today, the Civil Society Advisory Group (CSAG) held a side event on sustainable forestry in Papua New Guinea. The Foundation for People and Community Development (FPCD), one of the RRI partners belonging to the CSAG, gave a presentation on community forestry.

A summary of the proceedings, including pictures, can be found here.
