Community Forestry and Forest-Based Climate Change Mitigation - UNFF 8 Side Event

United Nations Forum on Forests 8 - April 20th - New York City, USA

At the eight session of the United Nations Forum on Forests, the Rights and Resources Initiative, Global Alliance for Community Forestry and International Family Forestry Alliance co-organized a side event entitled "Community Forestry and Forest-Based Climate Change Mitigation”. The event included presentations by Arvind Khare (RRI), Ghan Shyam Pandey (FECOFUN), and Janne Narraka (IFFA) and was chaired by John Hudson. Discussions during the event focused on how community and household forestry can promote forest restoration, reduced deforestation and afforestation. The event strengthened linkages between the Global Alliance for Community Forestry and the International Family Forestry Alliance.
