Land Tenure Center Library University of Wisconsin-Madison - Land Tenure Center, Nelson Institute, University of Wisconsin-Madison
The Land Tenure Center (LTC) works to improve environmental sustainability in developing countries, where extraordinary biological and cultural diversity often coincides with acute poverty. Environmental sustainability is vital for the poor, who depend heavily on natural resources and ecosystem services and are likely to suffer disproportionately from disease and hardship when the environment is degraded. Linking poverty alleviation to environmental conservation is complex and requires good governance and sound institutions. For this reason, LTC stresses local collaboration and a multi-disciplinary approach to research and training.

FAO Forest Tenure Assessment - Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
In the 2005 issue of the Global Forest Resources Assessment, FAO dedicated a specific table for the collection of data and classification of the world's forests into two main categories: public and private (plus one additional category for non-classified forests).
In addition, FAO is conducting a more detailed assessment on forest tenure, institutional arrangements and management agreements, in order to compile, analyse and disseminate information that is important to the international community and governments when designing policies which are responsive to the increasing role played by stakeholders in the forestry sector. The purpose of this site is to present the findings of this assessment, with the final aim of clarifying and raising awareness about the linkages between forest tenure, sustainable forest management and poverty alleviation.

www.poverty-wellbeing.net The platform on livelihoods, equity and empowerment - Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Intercooperation, Overseas Development Institute
One fifth of the world's population still lives in absolute poverty, and the concerns of poor people continue to feature insufficiently in the design of development policies. Whilst much has been written on the subject, it is not always easy to find material in one place – and particularly clear, succinct information on how development practitioners can shape their field programmes, and their contributions to policy dialogue, in a “pro-poor” manner. The “Poverty – Well-being” platform seeks to provide such information, organised around key themes.
